The WIC (Women, Infants and Children) is a supplemental nutrition program. The WIC program was enacted by the federal government to assist substantial numbers of pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, infants, and young children in families with inadequate income who are at risk due to inadequate nutrition or poor health. The department provides the following services:

  • Specific supplemental foods for health and nutrition during critical times of growth and development. WIC provides foods that supply calcium, protein, iron and Vitamins A, D and C. Food packages for children and women also provides whole grain foods and fresh/frozen fruits and vegetables;
  • Free nutrition and breastfeeding education for participants;
  • Breast pumps to mothers who qualify; and,
  • Referrals to additional health and social services.

Eligibility requirements:
Who is eligible for WIC Services?

  • Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding or have recently given birth;
  • Infants; and,
  • Children, up to the age of 5 years old.

Who may apply for an infant or a child?

  • A parent, guardian, proxy or foster parent

How to qualify?

Must live in the state of Oklahoma;

  • Have a family income within the program limits. If you receive income from a job, then you may still qualify;
  • Must provide a proof of identification, income and address; and,
  • You may be eligible for WIC if you receive Medicaid, SNAP or TANF benefits.
