Morton offers support to diabetic patients

Morton Comprehensive Health Services launched the first in a series of diabetes education classes as part of a patient-centered focus to control and manage diabetes. A partnership with the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma and the W. L. Hutcherson YMCA will provide a comprehensive approach to include diabetic office visits, all medications and supplies, diabetes education, physical fitness instruction, a food diary, eye exams, and free transportation, if needed. The Smithsonian Institution sponsors a website promoting the accomplishments and achievements of women with its exhibit “Because of Her Story”. Area restaurant donates to Morton

“Give Back to Morton on Fridays” – Naples Flatbread Kitchen and Bar, 201 S. Denver Ave., (918) 879-1990, is donating 10 percent of dine-in or dine-out sales on Fridays between 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. to Morton. Just mention that to the waiter/waitress that you are there to support “Morton Day.” Parking will be validated.

Learn About Resources Available to Caregivers and Seniors

Morton Comprehensive Health Services will be hosting a program for caregivers and seniors at the Creek County Literacy Program, 15 N. Poplar St., Sapulpa, OK, on March 5 at 1 p.m. Representatives from Morton will share information and resources for providing support services for family and friends in need of caregiving. Programs offered at Morton

Morton and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Tulsa are offering clinical breast exams and mammograms for qualified patients. Also, Morton will provide referrals for further diagnostic screenings, if necessary, and educational information on the topic. In partnership with the George Kaiser Family Foundation, Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma and the W. L. Hutcherson Branch YMCA, Morton is offering a patient-centered program for individuals with diabetes. After meeting with a case manager at Morton, a four-part program will be designed to provide medical oversight, medications and supplies, nutritional and educational information and an exercise regimen.
